communion

Yesterday we went and visited my Granny who will be 106 next month. Yep, you heard that right. Josie was not at all hesitant towards Granny. In fact she went straight to her and wanted to sit in her lap. This picture makes me laugh because Josie's fake smile is her half smile.

Not only did we get to visit with her but we got to take communion with her. She is really unable to get out of the house much...it is just physically harder...so her Pastor or someone from her church brings communion every Sunday.

I read this in my Preparing for Jesus book this morning:

We have not enticed God here by sweetness, lovableness, goodness, faithfulness, prayers, kneelings, pieties, manifest obediences. Immanuel is here on his own recognize, according to his own lights and his own love.

But this is the gift righteousness could never accomplish, that Jesus himself, in coming among us, changes us, making us worthy of his presence, sisters and brothers of the Firstborn of God.

Communion. Fellowship with the Lord. He is here because of his own love for me. And for you.
