identity/security

“He’s solid rock under my feet, breathing room for my soul.” Psalm 62:7

“Then an amazing paradox begins to draw upon me: that I am never truly more myself than when I have given myself to God.  My actions are never more authentic than when they are the Spirit’s actions through me.” –The Transforming Power of Prayer by James Houston

“..as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.” Isaiah 62:5

“They will be called the Holy People, the Redeemed of the Lord; and you will be called Sought After, the City No Longer Deserted.” Isaiah 62:12

When we are insecure about our own identities, we create settings that deprive other people of their identities as a way of buttressing {justifying} our own.  This happens all the time in families, where parents who do not like themselves give their children low self-esteem. –Let Your Life Speak by Parker Palmer

Oh Lord, help me to find my identity in You. To be lost in You. To find my security from you, alone. Not from my husband, or friends, or being a mom or a wife or a daughter…but from You alone.
