SOLD
So….we put some of these fliers out.
And stuck a sign in our yard…..
And 30 days later we got a contract on our house. It’s true. We are moving {staying in town} and close at the end of October.
Shocking, I know. But if you know us, then you are probably not too surprised.
I have not talked about this adventure on my blog-until now. We really wanted to see what would happened. We wanted to see the Lord’s faithfulness. We wanted to be obedient. We were not expecting it to happen this quickly.
Where are we going you ask? Why did you want to sell your home? Good question….let me back up.
When Andy and I got married, we lived in the home he owned. He bought it when he was 19, yes-19. It was a small home and when we sold it the home had been owned by him for 6 years. We sold that home in one month…for sale by owner.
We move to our next home, live there a little over 2 years, then feel a strong need to move. It was a great home. The layout was not the best but it had lots of potential and we loved our neighbors {hi Jennifer} and our neighborhood. This was the home we brought our baby, Wyatt home to. But God was calling us out. We were “prisoners” of our mortgage, we had a one year old, and heard the Lord telling us to downsize. What? So we were obedient, we put another for sale by owner sign in our yard and two months later, two days before Christmas…we sold our home. It was the best financial move we could have made.
We did not know where we were going to go. We did not have our heart set on another home. My parents graciously let us live with them for 3 weeks and then we moved into the home we currently live in and we have loved it. It’s small. It’s all one level. It has an open floor plan. And we have used it so much. We have had committee meetings here, campaigners here, birthday parties here, many different Young Life get-togethers here, friends here, family here, play dates here, and brought home our baby, Boone here…and now we are feeling the nudge to move again. We have prayed and prayed about what to do. We are so very blessed to have a home of our own and not have to move. We started getting the itch to move last December. We knew this would not be a home we would live in for a long time. But God continued to tell us to wait. Wait on Me. We did and then we heard the “go”. So we stuck a for sale by owner sign in our yard {the same one now for the 3rd time} and in the worst economy and real estate since the depression…we got a contract on our home in one month.
When I really have time to think about I get emotional. It’s hard not to. We moved here when Wyatt was 15 months old and now we are moving out when Boone will be 15 months old. We have very sweet memories in this home. Many prayers lifted up in this home. We have fought here, forgiven here, cried here and laughed here. It has given us shelter and warmth. Provided shade and comfort.
And we know God is not done.
And we know God is faithful.
So the search is on.
Will you pray with us and for us as we look for another home. Pray we will not jump at just any home but that we will wait patiently on the Lord and listen to what He wants for us. Our desire is to find the home where we can really plant our roots. I don’t know if I have it in me to move again….but who knows. It’s like having a baby. You think you’re done and then you want one more. Ha ha. {And no, I am not pregnant!}
