{Wyatt and Grammy April 2007}
It's been one week since Papaw Bill passed away. Tonight we visited Grammy in the hospital next to the unit Bill was in.
We parked in the same parking lot.
We went up the same elevator.
We waited in the same visitor waiting area.
Grammy is sick and we are praying the Lord will restore her health.
She was complaining last weekend of her chest hurting. It was easy to think it was from the stress of Bill being so sick and then passing away that was putting strain on her heart. Thankfully Jim, Andy's dad, took her to the doctor on Monday morning where she had an EKG done. The doctor was concerned about the results of the test.
She was admitted to the hospital last night to have a heart cath performed mid morning-today {Thursday}- it was determined she would need two stints put in.
The doctor was not happy with what he found as he performed the procedure. Very concerned. Very concerned.
This was not part of the plan.
The plan was to come home tomorrow.
That is not what God had planned.
The doctor has said the next 24 hours are extremely crucial. If there is any event that occurs in the next 24 hours {i.e. blood clot, heart attack} they will perform an emergency bypass. Her arteries are so frail and so brittle. If things go well, then she should be able to come home this weekend.
We will wait and we will pray and we will be hopeful.
Andy and I were able to visit her tonight. She is scared and that makes me sad. Grammy was a nurse for years and years and years...she is one smart cookie. She knows what's going on. She said the noises make her jumpy. The beeps, the sounds of other people {she is in one big room with a curtain separating her from other patients} the helicopters. When Andy's step mom Frankie and I walked out she said "pray for the sunshine in the morning...and tell Wyatt Grammy said hey"....oh we will.
God is good. This doesn't shock Him or surprise Him. It doesn't catch him off guard. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is All Powerful, All Knowing, Sovereign, Almighty, Holy, Good. He loves us. He cares for us. He comforts us. He provides for us. He is good. God has Grammy where He wants her.
"Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you. For I am the Lord your God, and the Holy One of Israel, your Savior..."
Isaiah 43: 1, 2, 3a
